An 18-year-old guy named Lemarques Darden Jr. got arrested after police say he shot and killed his friend during a stupid fight over some French fries.
Reportedly, this happened back on January 28, 2026, in Fort Worth, Texas, right at an apartment complex on Jeremiah Drive.
The two were neighbors and had been friends for a while, which makes the whole thing even harder to understand.
What went down was pretty straightforward, at least from what witnesses told the cops. A group of them had gone out to Wingstop to grab some food and came back to hang out.
They were all eating when an argument started because 19-year-old Jarvis Davis wouldn’t share his French fries with Darden.
In no time, things got heated. Police say Darden pulled out a handgun and shot Davis right in the head. Davis didn’t make it and he passed away at the hospital not long after.
People inside the apartment, even some kids, saw the whole thing happen. That helped investigators figure out who was responsible pretty quickly.
Darden took off right after the shooting, and they think he headed to Tyler, Texas, maybe because he has family there. It took almost two weeks, but authorities tracked him down and made the arrest in Tyler.
Darden now faces a murder charge and is sitting in the Tarrant County Jail while everything moves forward.
The victim’s mom, Sherika Kennedy, talked to reporters and called it completely senseless. She said her son was probably just being a good friend and never saw something like this coming.
