Riverton Parke High School Varsity Football Player Chase Bennett Died In an Accident, Leaving Parents Behind!

A 17-year-old varsity football player, Chase Bennett, died in a car accident on February 20, 2026, survived by his parents, Tracy Davis Bennett and Eddie Bennett, and sister, Caeden Bennett.

The accident happened on Friday morning, around 11:25 a.m. on State Road 163 west of Lyford in Parke County, Indiana.

Reportedly, Chase was driving east when his vehicle crossed over the center line, went off the north side of the road, and hit some trees.

Parke County deputies were called to the scene, along with help from Lyford Fire, Parke County EMS, and Clinton Police.

He was taken first to Union Hospital in Clinton and then flown to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, but sadly, he didn’t make it and passed away from his injuries.

Greg Sutton expressed his grief, writing:

My hart is broken its taken me awhile to process this feeling in my hart an mind to Tracy Davis Bennett Eddie Bennett Caeden Bennett you have been part of my life for along time you an my family have been very close I am so sorry for your loss praying for you guys Chase Bennett was an amazing young man he has touched alot of people hearts.

Chase Bennett was a 17-year-old junior at Riverton Parke High School, and he played on the football and baseball teams.

He wore number 30 for the boys’ varsity football team, playing running back and cornerback, and he was part of the class of 2027.

In fact, besides football, Chase Bennett also played baseball at Riverton Parke High School.

The school corporation, Southwest Parke Community School Corporation, put out a statement saying how sad everyone is.

There was a candlelight vigil planned to bring people together to pray and remember Chase. It was set for Saturday, February 21, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at Riverton Parke Jr./Sr. High School, with battery-operated candles provided.

During this challenging time, we pray for the strength of Chase Bennett’s parents, siblings, friends, teammates, and extended family.
