Steve Sander, a devoted family man, cherished friend, and valued member of his local volleyball community, passed away recently, leaving a deep and lasting impact on all who knew him.
Born and raised in Brea, California, Steve carried his love of community and sports throughout his life.
A graduate of Brea Olinda High School, he later settled in Springville, Utah, where he became a pillar of both his family and his local community.
Steve’s career included time with Eynon Management, where his professionalism and integrity were admired by colleagues.
Outside of work, Steve was best known for his passion for volleyball and the friendships he nurtured through it.
Monday night volleyball sessions became a highlight of his week, where his teammates not only relied on his skills but were inspired by his enthusiasm and encouragement.
Cari Clyde Hansen, a close friend, reflected on his presence:
“Steve, thank you for being my friend and for being my hype man on the court on Monday nights. I wish I could take away your pain. Taylor and Brenden, I’m so very sorry. I will miss him.”
Cari Clyde Hansen
Such words capture the depth of connection Steve fostered and the profound void left by his passing.
Steve’s family was at the heart of his life. He shared a loving partnership with his wife, Kera Sander, to whom he had been married since August 27, 1988.
Together, they raised their son, Taylor Sander, who, along with Kera, was the center of Steve’s world.
He also held close bonds with extended family members, including his cousin Scott Parkinson and family member Lynne Soules.
Those who knew Steve remember a man whose kindness, humor, and loyalty were constants in both family and friendship.
Beyond his immediate circles, Steve was known for his warmth, generosity, and ability to lift those around him.
Whether cheering on a teammate, supporting a friend through hardship, or simply sharing a smile, he made everyone feel valued.
Steve Sander is survived by his wife, Kera, his son Taylor, and his extended family, including Scott Parkinson and Lynne Soules, as well as hundreds of friends and teammates who admired and loved him.
