A well-known veteran from Summers County, Daniel E. Frazier, better known as Danny, passed away on February 25, 2026, at the age of 88 years old.

Danny was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Sue Frazier, and two kids: a son named Bobby Pitzer and a daughter named Linda Caudle.

He is survived by his daughter, Peggy Cales, who is married to Roger and lives in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania.

Danny also leaves behind 5 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, sister Janice Blankenship and her husband, Woody, and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his wife and 2 kids, his parents, Ernest R. and Virginia Mary Mann Frazier, and two brothers, David and Melvin Frazier, also went before him.

Born on October 13, 1937, in Talcott, Danny went to Talcott High School. While he was there, he played on the basketball and baseball teams.

After finishing school, he joined the United States Army and served as a veteran.

Once he finished his time in the service, he came back home and took a job at Hercules, where he worked until he retired.

Above everything else, he was a born-again Christian. He never hesitated to talk about his beliefs with anyone who would listen. He stayed close to his faith and went regularly to First Baptist Church and Upland Baptist Church.

Danny loved to fish, and he was really good at it. He caught plenty of catfish and shared them with his friends.

Likewise, he had a real passion for sports in Summers County. He watched all kinds of games and supported the teams.

Danny played a big part in getting Little League baseball started in the area. He coached kids, mentored them, and later on just enjoyed being a fan in the stands.

Back in the 1960s, Danny helped with Project HARP for the military. He talked about how tough it was, moving big gun barrels and equipment to places like Barbados, but he felt proud to serve his country that way.

The funeral service for Danny is set for Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 12:00 pm at Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel on 130 Temple Street in Hinton.

Pastor Jon Elardo, Mike Brandon, and Tony Williams will officiate. Visitation starts at 11:00 am that same day until the service begins.

After the service, burial will take place at Cales Cemetery on Chestnut Mountain near Hinton. Pallbearers include Tony Williams, Eric Frazier, Mike Brandon, Wayne Ellison, Joe Blankenship, Rick Isaac, and Richard Crisp.

During this challenging time, we pray for the strength of Danny’s daughter, friends, and extended family.

Rest Easy, Danny Frazier!
