Henry Blackmore, a North Central College Men’s Volleyball team member, passed away unexpectedly in February 2026.

His sudden departure has left family, friends, and the college community in shock and mourning.

Henry Blackmore’s athletic journey was defined by his heart and hustle.

He stood 5’10” and weighed 145lbs and played volleyball for the Future Volleyball club. He loved the game and dreamed of playing for life.

Henry was a natural competitor who thrived under pressure and was always the loudest, most encouraging voice on the court. He was dedicated to reaching the highest level of play possible.

He specializes as a Libero, mastering defensive control, but can also swing effectively as an Outside Hitter.

His athletic journey began at Geneva Community High School, and he committed to continuing his academic and athletic career at North Central College in March 2025.

North Central College Mourns Volleyball Star Henry Blackmore

Henry Kellen Blackmore was a cherished member of the North Central College Men’s Volleyball team. Sadly, he passed away unexpectedly in February 2026.

His sudden departure has sent waves of shock and grief through his family, friends, teammates, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Henry was far more than an athlete and was known for qualities that made a lasting impression. He was a source of positivity whose warmth touched countless lives.

He moved through his days with an enthusiasm that was contagious and a compassion that made others feel seen and valued. Friends and classmates consistently describe him as a bright light.

His absence leaves a void that will be deeply felt across the college and in every corner of the community he inhabited.

The specific circumstances surrounding Henry’s death are currently under investigation.

In the face of tragedy, the North Central College community has drawn together in a powerful display of unity and grief. It extended its heartfelt sympathies to the Blackmore family and is actively providing counseling support.

Brotherhood and family is something that is talked about within our program constantly. We are family and brothers for each other on and off the court. Our family, along with Henry’s, could use any prayers, positive thoughts, and support during this difficult time.

The Blackmore family has yet to announce funeral arrangements. They find solace in the cherished memories of Henry.

Henry embodied the spirit of community, passion, and kindness that North Central College holds dear. His kindness and positive influence on the world will continue to resonate and inspire.
