A young 14-year-old Wink High School junior football player, Teagan Joshua Martin Hernandez, better known as Teagan Hernandez, took his last breath on February 9, 2026.
Teagan Hernandez is survived by his father, Joshua Hernandez; his mother, Amber, and stepfather, Andy Galindo; his siblings, Jaylon Hernandez, and step-siblings, AubreighLynn Gallegos, Brynleigh Gallegos, Ezekiel Galindo, Case Galindo, and Alayla Galindo.
He was a loving grandson to his grandparents, Johnny and Karla Fuentes; Tracey and Shaun Dirden, Mario and Loriza Hernandez, and Melissa Galindo.
Amber, his mother, expressed her grief, writing:
Our sweet boy gained his wings, and though our hearts are broken, we are so grateful for every moment we had with him. He was called home and while we don’t understand why, we know that he is wrapped in eternal peace. Our hearts are shattered, but our faith is holding us together. He brought laughter, light, and a love that will never leave us. We will carry him with us in everything we do. Forever our boy.
Forever our heart. Mama loves you Teagan Joshua
Similarly, Tracey, his grandmother, also shared words of her grief and penned an eulogy, which reads:
As I just took me a short stroll down my picture memory lane, I am still at a loss for words…the only word I’ve had & heard today is unreal. Teagan Joshua Martin Hernandez you were one of a kind. You were one of the cutest, funniest, & had such a heart of gold. You truly knew how to not just make people smile but to bring them to a place of laughter. I will forever cherish our day we had together when you called me & asked me to pick you up & we spent the entire day together.
Teagan also leaves behind his uncles, Kuaid Fuentes, Lendall Hernandez, and Nano Galindo, and his cousin Kelena Fuentes.
He had a special soft spot for his niece, Parker Mae, whom he called his Gummy Bear.
Teagan is preceded in death by his grandfather, Eddie Galindo, aunts, Kaley Bowerman and Brianna Lucas, and cousin, Judah Bowerman.
Born November 30, 2011, in Odessa, Texas, Teagan was full of life and always making people laugh, and he loved being the jokester in any group.
Sports kept him excited, video games were a big thing for him, and he played his music loud. Likewise, dancing was something he did whenever he got the chance.
Teagan helped out on his school’s Robotics Team and even taught himself how to cook. His favorite thing to make was steak and eggs.
Even though his time here was short, Teagan left behind so much joy from the laughs he shared, the way he lived with excitement, and all the love he gave freely.
