JOPLIN, Mo. — Kevin Teel, a dermatologist who served patients in Joplin with U.S. Dermatology Partners, died in an accident on Feb. 7, his wife, Lindsey Teel, announced on social media.

“It breaks my heart to tell you that my best friend, soul mate, and partner in life Kevin passed away Saturday from an accident,” Lindsey wrote.

“As you can imagine, this has turned mine and the kids’ lives upside down in ways I could never have imagined.”

She asked for privacy as she steps back from social media to care for their children and navigate the days ahead.

U.S. Dermatology Partners confirmed Teel’s death and remembered him for his warmth and professionalism.

“Kevin was not only a highly respected provider serving our Joplin community, he was a cherished part of our U.S. Dermatology Partners family,” the practice said.

“He cared for his patients with genuine warmth, compassion, and unwavering dedication, and he touched the lives of countless individuals through his work and kindness. His absence leaves a space that cannot be filled.”

Patients and neighbors flooded Lindsey’s post with condolences and memories of Teel as a kind, upbeat clinician who made people feel cared for.

Kelly Oxendine called him “the most awesome doctor I have had,” saying he helped her when others had given up.

Mary Kriesch wrote that Teel “took fantastic care of my husband and I for many years” and that “he will be missed by so very many people.”

Linda Geeding, a longtime patient, remembered recent visits and praised both his skill and his bedside manner: “He had a wonderful smile and loved zapping my cancer sores … I loved him dearly.”

Ken Myers said Teel “always made you feel like family,” and others described him as upbeat, funny, and deeply committed to his patients.

The community has organized practical support for Lindsey and the children. Alex Matlock set up a Meal Train to help the family with meals and day-to-day needs while Lindsey adjusts to single parenthood; organizers said the goal is to raise $2,500 to ease immediate expenses and stress.

Visitation will be held at Forest Park Baptist Church in Joplin on Tuesday, Feb. 17, at 10 a.m., followed by a service at 11 a.m. In her post, Lindsey thanked friends and neighbors for their messages and said she is overwhelmed by the outpouring of support but grateful for every prayer and offer of help.

Those with memories or messages for the family are being encouraged to reach out privately rather than post speculation, as Lindsey asks for time and space to grieve and care for her children.
