The British Army and the Welsh Guards community are grieving the loss of Corporal Lucy Wilde, who passed away in February 2026.
The Welsh Guards shared the news with real sorrow, saying it is with deep sadness that they mark her passing.
Lucy was attached to their battalion until Christmas time, and then she moved on to her next posting with the 2nd Battalion, Royal Yorkshire Regiment.
Even though her time with the Welsh Guards was not very long, she became a true part of their family.
People knew her for staying calm when things got tough, for always putting others first in her care, and for her complete dedication to the job.
That dedication came through clearly during a serious accident in the Falklands. A Troop Carrying Vehicle overturned, and several Welsh Guards soldiers were injured. Lucy was the first one on the scene. She worked without stopping to treat the injured men and made sure every single Guardsman was accounted for and safe.
What she did that day was outstanding, and she received proper recognition for her courage and the professional way she handled everything.
Let alone at her work, Lucy put the same energy and positive attitude into other things. She was a very fit and highly motivated Physical Training Instructor, and you would often see her in the gym, encouraging others to push harder and get better.
On her social media, she reached even more people, advising on fitness, what life in the service is really like, and how to join the British Army.
She had this special way of making the people around her feel better and more lifted up. Lucy was popular, she was genuine, and she earned deep respect from everyone.
Her loss is hitting the whole battalion hard, and it goes much further than that.
