68-year-old Director of Kewanee Food Pantry Lisa Marie Janey from Kewanee took her last breath at her home on Tuesday, February 17, 2026.

Lisa is survived by her husband of 47 years, Gary Janey, and their five daughters: Jennifer Edwards, Angela Janey, Maria Janey, Shely Propst and son-in-law Ryan, Stephanie Hansen, and son-in-law George V. Hansen.

She and Gary Janey married on October 29, 1978, and had been living a sound marital life for almost 50 years until she took her last breath.

She also leaves behind her 14 grandchildren: Meranda, Kyle, Katie, Mary, Justin, and Hannah Edwards, Karli Janey, Talyn, Jasmine, and Trinity Propst, Isabelle Weinrich, Jayna Tracy, Taylor Hansen, and George A. Hansen, and several great-grandchildren.

On top of that, Lisa also leaves behind three brothers: Alan Pearson with his wife Kim, Eric Pearson with Laura, and Scott Pearson with Paula, and a sister, Lori Cain, who was married to Tim and whose maiden name was Pearson, and a bunch of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alan Pearson and Josephine “Bunny” Coniglio Pearson.

Born on November 3, 1957, in Brooklyn, New York, Lisa went to Wethersfield High School and graduated from there.

Starting in 2013, Lisa took on the role of Director at the Kewanee Food Pantry and stayed in that position ever since. It was something she really cared about and put a lot of heart into.

When she wasn’t busy with the pantry or her family, Lisa liked simple things that made her happy.

She watched a lot of X-Files episodes over the years, played bingo whenever she got the chance, enjoyed other sci-fi shows, and listened to music, with Bon Jovi being her absolute favorite.

But more than anything else, what she loved most was being around her family, especially all those grandchildren who kept her smiling.

The funeral service for her is planned for 11:00 in the morning on Wednesday, February 25 at Rux Funeral Home right here in Kewanee.

Reverend John Reside will lead the service. People can come for a visitation one hour before it starts at the same place. After that, she will be laid to rest at Pleasant View Cemetery.

Lisa will be remembered by so many for the way she looked out for others and for the warmth she brought to the people closest to her

During this challenging time, we pray for the strength of Lisa’s husband, daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family.

Rest In Heavenly Peace, Lisa Janey!
