Mark Aguirre is a former American professional basketball player who played for the Dallas Mavericks, Detroit Pistons, and Los Angeles Clippers in the NBA throughout his career wnning several honorable titles.
After his playing career, Mark Aguirre continued to thrive in his sports journey as a coach and served as an assistant coach for the Indiana Pacers and the New York Knicks of the NBA.
However, besides his sports career, Mark Aguirre is a devoted husband to his longtime wife, Angela Bowman, and a great father to their four kids.
Mark Aguirre tied the knot with Angela Bowman in 1988, during his seventh season with the Dallas Mavericks, and has been happily married for nearly four decades.
Furthermore, the couple welcomed their first child, daughter Angelei Aguirre, on September 25, 1989, in Dallas, Texas, and later were blessed with three other younger kids, Maschera, Alana, and Michaela.
Mark Aguirre and Angela Bowman often express their love and pride for their four daughters and raised them to be successful in their respective careers.
Mark also instilled the love and passion for sports in all of his kids.
Mark Aguirre’s Daughters, Angelei and Alana Aguirre, Are Former College Athletes
Angelei and Alana Aguirre followed in their father Mark Aguirre’s footsteps in basketball and are both former high school and collegiate athletes.
His eldest daughter, Angelei, began her basketball journey at White Plains High School and led her team to its fourth straight section 1 -AAtitle.
Angelei also helped her high school team to three league crowns and was named the MVP in the sectional title game after scoring 33 points in 2008. She also earned four all-state, all-league, and all-section honors.
She further continued her athletic journey at the University of California, Berkeley in 2008, where, as a freshman, Angelei played in 18 games for the Bears and later transferred to UC Santa Barbara, where she led her team in several victories.
Although Angelei didn’t pursue her career in sports professionally, she has been excelling as a project manager of VIP Services at Star Companies for over eight years.
Prior to that, she served as project coordinator of VIP Services at Star Companies for four years. Angelie earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Communications from UC Santa Barbara in 2013.
Similarly, Mark’s other daughter, Alana Aguirre, played basketball at Justin Wakeland High School and Ball State University.
While at Justin Wakeland High School, Alana earned first team All-region in 2013 and 2014 and was district 9-4A Newcomer of the Year in 2011, Offensive Player of the Year (2012, 2014), and First Team All-District (2013).
She continued her athletic journey at Abilene Christian before transferring to Ball State.
Alana has been serving as a first officer at Envoy Air in Chicago, Illinois. Prior to that, she served as a first officer at CommuteAir in Washington, D.C. for a year.
She also served as first officer and captain at Trandewind Aviation in White Plains, New York, and private pilot and flight instructor at United Aviate Academy for over two years.
Furthermore, Alana briefly served as a graduate assistant women’s basketball coach at Wayne State College, from which she earned her MBA in 2020.
Alana also earned her MS in performance enhancement and coaching from Austin Peay State University in 2023.
It is unclear if the other two of Mark and Angela’s daughters, Maschera and Michaela, played sports.
Maschera, a graduate of the University of Texas at El Paso, served as practice manager at T. Smith Counseling, LLC; media and production specialist at 2020 Lives Changed Inc.; content strategy consultant at Wolverine Assemblies, LLC; and senior content and communications strategist at Phoenix Speaks, Inc.
Likewise, Mark’s youngest daughter, Michaela Aguirre, is pursuing her Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences degree at Texas A&M College. She graduated from Wakeland High School.
Mark Aguirre also shares a daughter named Leslee Ann with a former partner; however, no details about her are available.
