Grace Lee, Beloved Atlanta Entrepreneur and Venture Partner, Fought Stage 4 Cholangiocarcinoma with Grace and Courage Before Passing in February 2025

Grace Lee, an Atlanta-based startup investor and consultant, learned on September 11, 2025, that she had stage 4 cholangiocarcinoma, a rare, aggressive bile duct cancer.

The news stopped her world in its tracks, as she shared openly on Instagram.

In her heartfelt post from December 2025, Grace wrote:

“Recently on September 11th, I was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. My world came to a full stop. Time stood still and love poured in. Each day has been challenging navigating chemo, tests, etc. so please forgive me for the delay in returning calls & messages, I promise I’m doing my best🙏. I am in awe of the kindness & generosity that has surrounded me from the time I got hospitalized. From every doctor to my care team, my family, prayers from strangers I have yet to meet- I’m deeply humbled by the love.”

Her close friend René Chatfield quickly set up a GoFundMe campaign called “For the Love of Grace” to help cover mounting medical bills, hospital stays, and treatments. The page described Grace as someone who “lights up every room she walks into,” a ray of sunshine who gives her heart freely, uplifts others, and makes everyone feel seen and cared for.

The goal was $150,000, and it drew support from friends and the community who wanted to ease her financial stress so she could focus on healing. By the time it was active, it had raised a significant amount through hundreds of donations.

Grace was a serial entrepreneur with an inspiring career. She started in food and beverage, founding Cruzado restaurant and CRU, where she worked for seven years. She built a successful concept that grew to over 35 franchised locations nationwide.

Later, she shifted into investing and became a venture partner at Profluence Capital in January 2024, where she stayed until the end. She had a knack for raising capital across diverse markets, including sports, entertainment, tech, finance, and startups.

Grace excelled at bridging gaps through relationships. She also served on boards for several non-profits and poured her passion into community work.

Her life was full of energy, connections, and joy. She lived boldly and cherished the small, meaningful moments, the ones that bring a genuine smile.

Sadly, after a brave fight, Grace passed away in February 2025. Her family shared the news on Instagram on her behalf, along with photos and a video. In her own words, posted as a final reflection:

“My life was far from perfect, but it was magnificent. I lived a life I’m proud of. I tried my best. The relationships, the moments, the small gestures and follow through- not the big and loud, but the small and significant ones that bring a smile. The ones that matter are the ones I hold on to. The beauty in the cracks ultimately gave me the most joy. I’ve worn many hats, but looking back I hope that I am remembered most fondly as a loving daughter, devoted sister and faithful friend.”

Tributes poured in from those who knew her. Her good friend Questlove captured the essence of her spirit perfectly:

“Wishing a peaceful journey to our fallen comrade Grace Lee: the most bucketlist crossin’-dream fulfilling-life to the fullest-seize-the dayingest-one time Nathan’s Hot Dog champion (yeah we didn’t believe it either) random field trip organizing’ sports viewing’ infinite superlative of awesomeness of a human being. Grace Lee’s battle with cancer was short but intense, yet her impact endures through the lives she touched, the businesses she built, and the love she spread. She reminded everyone to value the quiet, beautiful moments and to live fully.

Rest in peace, Grace.
