JR Schleuger, an award-winning custom truck builder and operator associated with Lifetime Nut Covers, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with aggressive cancer.

He left a legacy of warmth, humor, and generosity that touched countless lives.

JR Schleuger was an award-winning custom builder and the driving force behind both Lifetime Nut Covers and the No Coast Large Cars Truck Show. He was more than just a builder and was described as a “huge piece” of a true trucking family.

His father, Dan Schleuger, founded the Lifetime Nut Covers. The company started 35 years ago after Dan got a flat tire and had to torch off rusted-on nut covers. He had an idea for making a plastic nut cover, and that idea has grown into a business offering over 900 custom chrome and plastic truck parts.

After high school, JR became a CNC machinist and, alongside his sister Danielle, eventually took over leadership of the family business. He took over the company in 2023.

JR was known for taking trucks in very bad shape and turning them into show-winning workhorses. He was the organizer and leader of the No Coast Large Cars Truck Show in Britt, Iowa.

Pretty lost for words, they did not come much better than this guy. You would not find a guy who had it more together than him, but was so humble to be around, praying for all the friends and family gone way too soon. You will be missed so much, RIP Jr Schleuger.

Trucking World Mourns the Loss of JR Schleuger

JR Schleuger passed away peacefully in February 2026, surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with aggressive cancer.

He was a beloved husband, loving father, and cherished member of the trucking community.

On June 28, 2014, he married Chelcee Schleuger. They built not just a business, but a life deeply rooted in the land they loved.

Chelcee, a graduate of Mount Mercy University and director of public health at Hancock County Health System, was his partner in every sense, balancing the demands of public health with the rhythms of farm and shop life.

JR’s heart belonged entirely to his family.

He was a devoted husband and adoring father to his three young daughters, Gracee, Caliee, and Mayzee. He instilled in them the same sense of joy, resilience, and compassion that defined his own life.

We have lost a valued member of our trucking family and the leader of the No Coast Large Cars team. More importantly, Chelcee Schleuger and her children have lost an incredible husband and father.

JR’s passing leaves a deep void in the hearts of his family, his employees, the trucking community, and the town that knew him as a man who waved from every tractor and stopped to help every stranded motorist.

His memory lives on through the countless lives he touched with his kindness, his booming laugh, and his unwavering spirit.

I remember the first time I met Jr Schleuger was at Rantoul at the Top Gun Large Car Shootout & would go visit with him at MATS in Louisville every year…he was always cool, genuine, & very friendly…I looked forward to visiting with him every year…I have been sitting in silence since I found out you passed…Our thoughts & prayers go out to your amazing family, your awesome employees & friends, & all of the No Coast Large Cars Family…..you will definitely be missed.
