Kian Moulton, a teenager in the United Kingdom who has recently been in the news after a court revealed his identity in a very serious criminal case, has parents who separated when he was four years old.
Kian Moulton grew up in Birmingham, England. The court heard that his parents separated when he was very young and that he had little meaningful contact with his mother after the age of four.
After his mother left the family home, his father became his main carer.
Reports from the court about his childhood include exposure to domestic abuse and a difficult upbringing.
His father told psychiatrists that, even as a child, Moulton seemed to enjoy violence and showed troubling behaviour.
While not many details about his parents and family have been disclosed, a few reports claim that he has been disowned by his family.
As of now, Kian is 15 years old. When he was 14, he stabbed a 12-year-old boy named Leo Ross in a public park in Birmingham in January 2025.
The attack was random, and there was no known connection between Moulton and Leo. Before Leo’s killing, he also attacked three elderly women, leaving some seriously hurt.
Moulton pleaded guilty to murder and the other violent offences. At Birmingham Crown Court, a judge lifted the rule that had kept his name secret because he was under 18. The public was allowed to know who he was.
He was sentenced to life in prison with a minimum of 13 years before he can be considered for release.
