Miss J Alexander — the iconic runway coach and judge from America’s Next Top Model — is known worldwide for his fierce presence on the catwalk and his unforgettable role on one of television’s most celebrated modeling competitions.
But beyond the glitz of the fashion world, Miss J carries a deeply personal role that he holds just as close to his heart: fatherhood. In 2009, Miss J revealed that he was a father to a then-7-year-old son named Boris.
The story of Boris’s birth is as unique and unconventional as Miss J himself. Born Alexander Jenkins, Miss J, and his ex-boyfriend both donated sperm after a French lesbian asked if they would be willing to do so.
“A French lesbian had asked if we would be sperm donors,” he explained on The Tyra Banks Show. “So we did a little test tube.”
Although Miss J’s ex-boyfriend turned out to be Boris’s biological father, Miss J has said that he plays a “very active role” in Boris’s life.
He has never let biology define the depth of the bond he shares with his son.

He praised Boris as “an incredibly smart child,” adding,
“He was toilet-trained at a year and three months. He refuses to drink out of plastic and will use only glass.”

“He insists on wearing nice shoes,” Miss J said.

He has kept Boris’s life private, but in his book Follow the Model, he wrote that fatherhood “enriched my life beyond imagination.”
