Nathan Allen Engbarth, 48, of Canistota, passed away on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at Monument Health in Rapid City.
Family and friends will gather to honor his life with funeral services at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, February 27, 2026, at the United Church.

Nathan Engbarth was born on September 28, 1977, in Pipestone to Patrick and Cynthia (Scotting) Engbarth.
He graduated in 1996 from Russell Tyler Ruthton High School. After high school, Nathan built his life in Ruthton, where he farmed and worked on wind towers.
In 2007, he moved to Canistota and joined his brothers at EDD, Inc., continuing his strong work ethic and commitment to family.
Nathan married Nicole DeMent on June 19, 2021, at the United Church of Canistota. Together, they built a life centered on love, family, and shared experiences.
Nathan cherished every moment with Nicole and their children, especially the vacations and cruises they enjoyed together.
Nathan Engbarth’s death has drawn attention to the many roles he played in the lives of those around him.
He loved riding horses—especially his beloved horse, Chuck—and he proudly supported the Minnesota Vikings.
He spent countless hours talking football with his son, Riley, and carried fond memories of riding bulls in his younger years.
Above all, he valued family time and created lasting memories with those he loved most.
He leaves behind his wife, Nicole of Canistota; his children, Riley (Emily) of Ivanhoe, Jenna of Watertown, and Aidan of Philip; his parents, Patrick and Cynthia Engbarth of Canistota; and his brothers, Brad (Malinda) and Justin (Carla), also of Canistota.
He also leaves his loyal dog, Rip, along with several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and extended relatives.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Georgianna Engbarth, and Tom and Margaret Scotting; his uncle, Rich DeRuyter; and his dear friend, Larry Koenig.
Nathan Engbarth’s death marks the loss of a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and friend.
His legacy lives on in the memories he created, the work he accomplished, and the love he shared so generously.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials, which they will direct toward a charity of their choice.
