Phyllis E. Songer DeathPhyllis E. Songer passed away peacefully on February 16, 2026, in Grand Ledge, Michigan, just a few days after her 94th birthday.

Born on February 12, 1932, Phyllis was the daughter of Leon and Evelyn Woodward Shoff, and she grew up in the area where she later spent most of her life.

Phyllis graduated from Grand Ledge High School back in 1950, and that small-town connection stayed with her always.

Music was really at the center of who Phyllis was. She started playing the piano in 1957 and kept going strong for more than 62 years. In 1969, she began teaching piano lessons, and over the years, she helped hundreds of students learn how to play.

Her music touched a lot of people in different ways. She played during many funeral services at places like Peters & Murray Funeral Home and Tiffany Funeral Home.

She also gave 33 concerts at the Grand Ledge Opera House, which shows just how much she loved sharing her talent with others. Playing the piano was her true passion, and it brought comfort and joy to so many.
