Thomas Ketchen Carter, a 23-year-old assistant coach at Spatola Wrestling, was arrested on February 19, 2026, by the Boone County Sheriff’s Department.

Carter, who stands 5’8″, with brown hair and brown eyes, weighing 160 pounds, is currently facing charges that have not yet been publicly disclosed.

Coach Tom, as he was known at Spatola Wrestling, has been part of the Spatola gym community for well over a decade.

He earned an illustrious high school wrestling career, securing five state medals, including a state championship in his senior season.

He attended The University of the Cumberlands on a full academic and athletic scholarship, earning multiple academic honors and qualifying for national competitions three times.

Spatola Wrestling praised Carter’s coaching abilities, noting that he brought a highly energetic coaching style and exceptional technical knowledge.

“Coach Tom understands that coaching is not all about championships, but about helping create outstanding individuals for life.”

Following the arrest, Spatola Wrestling announced that Carter will no longer be allowed to use their facilities for private lessons or assist with any activities.

The organization emphasized that the safety and well-being of its athletes remain their highest priority.

Effective immediately, Thomas Ketchen Carter will no longer be involved with Spatola Wrestling in any capacity,” the organization stated.

“We are committed to maintaining a safe and professional environment for every athlete and family in our program. Out of respect for those involved and the ongoing legal process, we will not comment further at this time.”

Authorities have not released additional details about the circumstances leading to Carter’s arrest. The Boone County Sheriff’s Department continues to handle the case.
