A Timeline of Surf

Cornwall's Newest Station

2018-2020

Surf Radio was founded as the brainchild of two Exeter University students with a love of podcasting after realising that Exeter and Falmouth on Cornwall Campuses didn't have any outlets for audio media creation.

In March 2019, they set up the new FXU Radio Station called "Falifornia",

before renaming to "Surf Radio" and broadcasting from the Soundhouse,  Falmouth University's state-of-the-art broadcasting studio on Woodlane Campus.

A Studio of Our Own

2021-2022

In 2021, Surf Radio launched its own dedicated studio in Penryn Campus' Tremough House. This enabled us to record more shows and create a bigger variety of content, to suit our diverse audience across Cornwall. This also allowed our members to get additional experience with live broadcasting to further improve the quality of our shows!

Moving and Improving

2022-present

In 2022, Surf Radio moved, once again, to our current studio located at the top of the Exchange Building on Penryn Campus. Since then, we've continued to make improvements to the studio and station to open Surf up to as many incredible opportunities as we can! By the end of 2023, we hope to have upgraded our computer systems to the latest hardware and software and in March 2024, we will be celebrating our 5th anniversary!

SRA Membership

Membership of the Student Radio Association has connected us with Stations across the country and provide our members the chance to get an insight into the Radio Industry and specialist support to take their shows to the next level!
